Telmasaurus grangeri

Telmasaurus is a basal Varanoid; a close relative to monitor lizards, known from the Barun Goyot Formation of Mongolia; Late Creataceous dated. It was one of the first of the larger varanoids; though it was still only around a meter (3 feet) in length. It likely lived its life in a similar manner to many of the modern species of monitor lizards; as an opportunistic carnivore or omnivore, roaming the deserts of Cretaceous Mongolia likely searching for small vertebrates and eggs.
